Once we move into November, I instantly feel more festive and enjoy nothing more than taking trips to towns over the weekends and enjoying what they have to offer. Wrapping up warm and being out and about after some fuel from a coffee is one of my favourite ways to spend my Saturdays. I especially enjoy it when festivities are apparent almost everywhere you go and I embrace it completely.
This Saturday we took a trip to Kingston which is a town I love and therefore thoroughly enjoy spending the day in. I visit Kingston a lot but hadn't been in a few weeks and was desperate to take a day trip there for the day. The Christmas decorations were an added bonus and it definitely managed to get me feeling festive. The day consisted of a little shopping, good food and wandering around as there is always lots to look at. When I actually get round to my Christmas shopping I will definitely be stocking up on gifts in Kingston as Bentalls and the shops in the town have so much to offer and it is the best place to feel festive and not too stressed whilst checking off that gift list!
I went with a plaid shirt from Zara today which I actually picked it up in Barcelona but hadn't got round to wearing it yet. It was so easy to create a put together outfit by throwing it on over a pair of jeans and pairing with some boots. I also saw that the shirt was in store today in Kingston so if you're looking for a new plaid shirt then I highly recommend this one! You can also buy it from their website here.
For dinner we went to GBK as I hadn't been for a long time and had received an email during the week telling me that their new Christmas bundle was available and it sounded delicious!
The new burger which is being offered in the bundle is called 'The Blitzen' and it consists of beef, bacon, deep fried camembert, Mrs/ Claus burger sauce, baby spinach and spiced cranberry ketchup. I knew I would love every ingredient within this burger but I was especially looking forward to the camembert and it was delicious. I could taste every flavour which was described in the burger and the beef was as always, cooked just right. I hope they continue to sell this burger or something similar after Christmas as I have found my new favourite burger at GBK!
The bundle also came with a choice of fries and a drink. We also got onion rings because GBK offer the best ones you will ever try. I also got 'baconnaise' as a side sauce and it did not disappoint. As my 'festive tipple' I went with the nutella milkshake and it was just as incredible as I had imagined with the perfect thickness and perfect flavour - obviously, it was nutella flavoured. On previous visits to GBK I have tried the peanut butter milkshake, the oreo and the honeycomb and as I have loved every one I couldn't wait to try the nutella flavour. I don't know how much nutella goes into this drink (and honestly I never want to find out) but it was a naughty treat that I didn't regret one bit.
I love Kingston and for days when I don't feel like spending the day in the much busier central London, I really enjoy spending the day in Kingston. Kingston has a huge variety of shops, great quality and unique places to eat and there is always something going on. It is a busy town but that's what I like about it because it means that there's always something to see and do.
What are your favourite towns to spend the day in and if you visit Kingston regularly, what are your favourite things to do there and places to eat? I also post a lot of photos like this on my instagram so follow me on there if you fancy it :)
Hope you had a good weekend!
