I don't write about skincare all that often, purely because I have sensitive skin and once I discover a product that doesn't bring my face out in red, blotchy dry patches, I tend to hold on tight to it and never let go! However, last year I treated myself to an Origins gift set that included a couple of face creams and after loving them, I decided it was time to do a round up of my favourite products from the brand.

My Scheming blackhead removal mask | Product review

I've never had a huge amount of blackheads but I am a fan of eliminating unwanted pores. I love Benefit's Porefessional primer for doing just that (albeit temporarily) but after trying a few skincase products that claim to reduce pores to no avail, I decided it was time to find something that really works.

The My Scheming mask had been brought to my attention a couple of times through trawling the internet and I'd only read good things about it so after doing a little more research, I decided to give it a go myself.

I've never been one to carry around a huge Mary Poppins-esque bag, filled with receipts and sweets that I haven't seen in months and getting back ache from a trip into town. No, that's not for me. I much prefer to carry a bag that just about fits all of the essentials in (and one too many lip products).

With every year, comes a larger array of beauty advent calendars. We've got 24 days of candles, nail varnish, body products or make up favourites to choose from but with so much choice, which do we go for!? For me, it's an easy choice and for the past few years, I have chosen the same calendar. Monthly favourites | October

Another year, another bunch of favourites I don't know how I've gotten by without before. As soon as we hit October, I took all the tinted, light-coverage moisturisers out of my make up bag and stored them away safely for next summer. In place of them, I added my trusty Nars Sheer Glow foundation and heavy-duty concealers.

My favourite thing about autumnal make up is the darker, more vampy products that come out to play. Darker lipstick, deeper scents and smokier eyes are all components of my favourite looks and I love peering at what's new in store each year.

Amsterdam | Travel diary

Amsterdam was one of those places that had been on my wanderlust list for quite some time, mainly because I have never heard anyone say a bad word about it! Therefore, it was safe to say that when I felt it was time for a little city break, I couldn't wait to book an Airbnb, pack a carry on backpack and get to Gatwick airport.

Meatopia 2016

Meatopia is a weekend-long event that showcases chefs, meat, drink, music and a whole lot of fire. It is held in the Tobacco Dock in East London, a warehouse I have visited several times before in order to try out the latest food, drink and treats that are on offer around London. When I stumbled across Meatopia, I quickly purchased tickets (just before they had sold out), put the date in my diary and waited patiently for September to roll around.

Investing in a few, quality items per season strikes me as a great way to save both time (scrolling through Asos' 'new in' section) and money. Whilst I haven't fully jumped on board with the concept, I have found myself spending a lot less money on clothes and I don't feel like my wardrobe is crying out for anything in particular!

Whilst I am very much into my skincare, eye cream is something that I used to overlook. In the past, I would tell myself how important it is, use it every morning and night for a week and then it would gradually make its way to the depths of my skin care bag and not see the light of day again until I once again had the realisation that I'm 23 and it's best to start protecting skin against ageing as soon as possible!

Current favourites

Now that the first month of the year has been and gone, I've been able to give some of my Christmas goodies a run for their money. Since I have been using these, as well as the firm favourites I have carried over from last year, I figured I was more than ready to post about my current favourites. I can say without a doubt that these products will be used up and bought again so I had to give them their moment!

Just another Mani Monday

To kick start the new year and this new segment on my blog, I thought I'd polish up on my manicures. After a few months of working in an office and tapping away at a keyboard for many hours of the week, the upkeep of my nails took a back seat last year and I went for the more natural (lazy) look. No longer did I indulge in my Sunday evening routine of taking off the colour I had been sporting since last weekend and carefully picking out a new hue to take on the next week with. In fact, after taking off the shellac manicure I treated myself to for July's summer holiday, I probably only painted my nails once every couple of months for the rest of the year!

Hair care products (along with skin care) are something I don't mind spending a little extra money on because you tend to get your money's worth. This is a round up of my current favourite products which leave my hair with the look and texture that I desire - soft to the touch and shiny to look at. Who doesn't look for that in their hair care!?

When it comes to skincare, I will spend the extra money on the products which actually work. I strongly believe that there is no point in buying expensive make up if you don't take care of your skin. Christmas in Angel

As someone who usually gets excited about Christmas in October, I just hadn't been feeling it this year. I had listened to festive songs, done my Christmas shopping and even broken my tradition of wrapping on Christmas Eve, all in an effort to feel more festive. Even after all this though, I still wasn't feeling it! I decided it was time to visit somewhere that would help get me in the Christmas spirit and when I thought about where would have little Christmas gifts, cute and unique shops and of course great places to eat, I decided upon Angel. 

Islington Chocolate Festival

After ordering the tickets back in July, the Chocolate Festival finally rolled around last weekend. Now I will be honest and admit that I am a full on chocolate lover and so this was a day that I had been looking forward to very much! Islington is also a really unique, bustling place and I love it that sort of atmosphere. I love wrapping up to my nose in a scarf, layering on the knits and going out for the day in the winter season. The cold, crisp air is so refreshing (even in London) and there's nothing better than looking at towns' festive offerings and indulging in naughty but tasty treats and hot drinks.

So with my tummy grumbling for chocolate, my boyfriend and I headed to the event. Get ready for a post which is very photo heavy but they're photos of chocolate so who can complain!?

Montezuma's

If you've had Montezuma's chocolate before then you know delicious it is. The high quality chocolate bars, truffles and hot chocolate powders are all divine and I am working my way through them at quite a pace! I have tried several flavours of the chocolates and truffles but it may take me quite some time to get through their entire range! I'll give it a go though.
